Hangzhou Low Carbon Science & Technology Museum,China (LCSTM) is the world's first thematic museum for low-carbon life education. It is also a public-spirited popular science education center to introduce and spread low-carbon technologies and promote academic exchanges. Besides, LCSTM can provide extracurricular education on the life, city and economy with low-carbon footprints.
Hangzhou Low Carbon Science and Technology Museum, China (LCSTM, add: #1888 Jianghan Road, Binjiang District), covering an overall floorage of 34293 m2, is particularly known for the application of 10 energy-saving technologies, including BIPV, sunlight utilization and green lighting, and ice storage air-conditioning. Everything has been made green and low-carbon as the construction was still in the process, so were the materials and exhibits in LCSTM. As the first museum in China to win the Certificate of Green Building Label (3 stars) from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development, LCSTM is also an exemplary green building for Hangzhou.
Low-Carbon Life-A Decided Future for Mankind
With “low-carbon life, a decided future for mankind” as the catchline, LCSTM boasts altogether 9 permanent exhibition halls (Carbon Cycle, Low Carbon City, Global Warming, Low Carbon Technologies, Low Carbon Life, Low Carbon Future, and Kid’s World), 3 temporary exhibition areas, 2 theaters (a giant screen theater and a dome screen theater), a lecture hall and a lab for popular science. The museum introduces science to the public and encourages scientific thinking and practice through over 100 intriguing learning stops, like “The Formation and Existence of Carbon”, “Global Warming”, “A Journey to Low Carbon Living” and “The Low Carbon Future” etc.
A Call for Green Development and Ecological Progress
Taking the promotion of green and low-carbon life for social progress as the responsibility, LCSTM has provided a broad range of shows and sessions, staged education activities, seminars and exchanges, and stressed both the spread of popular science and technological research. For the future development of the city, province and country, the museum continues to carry out international exchanges and cooperation, hatches more high-quality exhibitions and improves our service. LCSTM believes in “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” and devotes itself to the mission of advocating the popular science for the “peak emission and carbon neutrality” strategy.
